THE BEADING GEM'S JOURNAL

OSoFree Jewellery's $110 Ethnic Statement Necklace Giveaway

It's one thing to be artistic and creative as a child.  It's another to actually grow up and pursue it as a career.  That's exactly what Arni (Arnaz) did.  This Indian artisan is based in Mumbai.  She received her training in Fine Arts but what kick started her jewelry making career was a GIA (Gemology Institute of America) course she took in California.

Ethnic Bib Necklace Giveaway :
Brass, Swarovski crystal, resin, paua
Her Etsy store  OSoFreeJewellery is full of her distinctive tribal style statement jewelry. The pieces are bold and vibrant.  One lucky winner will be winning her bold Ethnic bib necklace in this giveaway.  Remember, Mother's Day is coming up!

She has a few similar yet different in the detail versions of this necklace style such as the necklace below.  The round disc was created by meticulously weaving brass wire rather like for basket work.  The other individual elements are then woven in afterwards.

She works with a wide variety of materials. Her pieces are colorful, often with chunky elements and always with strong visual elements. These are the designs which really put the focus on the jewelry rather than on the outfits.

Arni's store is a shining example of great jewelry photography!  She's also on Facebook and Twitter.

Easy Beaded Easter Fun Bracelet Tutorial and Inspirational Color Schemes

It's not long now before Easter.  So if you are planning to make some jewelry gifts, consider this beaded Easter Fun bracelet tutorial from Fusion Beads. The pastel color combination is lovely and perfect for Easter.  This is basically a charm style bracelet with coordinating round crystals filling in the spaces.

It's fast and easy to do because it requires just beading around core beads - making the strung beads sit like longitudinal lines. If you are a beginner, check out their step by step illustrations for beading around a bead for detailed instructions.

It doesn't have to be for Easter either.  The bracelet tutorial used five 11/0 seed bead colors. 5-6 colors work really well.  You could use your own color combinations or check out some wonderful examples created by designers/bloggers who are inspired by photographs.

Here are some gorgeous examples from Pinterest :
