But now I know they are not! Especially if you use them to make glamorous beaded pave stud earrings!  This tutorial is by Sapphirus.  It also features a neat tip - suspending a metal component on the ear stud back with small jump rings. The bead work nearly covers an 8 mm bead. The exposed side is where you glue on the stud finding. Be sure to get the ones with a shallow cup so it fits better on the foundation bead. The captions in the tutorial are not in English but it is easy enough to follow.
