Amazing Wire Wrapped Beaded Masks Posted: 06 Mar 2011 04:33 AM PST New Orleans is one of my favorite cities in North America. It's such a unique place with a fascinating history. It's the birthplace of jazz and the cuisine? Fabulous. While I have never been during Mardi Gras (too wild for me!), I recall seeing tons of masks for sale, often with feathers. This year's Mardi Gras begins on March 8, just two days away. So it seems fitting to feature the amazing wire wrapped beaded masks by a couple of British artists who call themselves Grin,Grimace and Squeak on Etsy. Their exquisite and often dramatic pieces are truly art. Won't they be awesome at a masquerade ball or fancy dress party? This design duo also create tiaras, fascinators, hair vines and jewelry. How to Make Broken China Jewelry the Easy Way Posted: 05 Mar 2011 06:07 PM PST All the previous broken china jewelry featured designers I`ve written about (see below) solder the metal edging. If you are not ready to learn soldering yet, there is another way to incorporate a broken china pendant in your jewelry design. Shawn Wilson of Shaviq Deisgns came up with this wonderful video tutorial which does not involve soldering. She uses a scrap of leather to back and edge the broken china piece. She also demonstrates how to incorporate a simple wire bail into the back so the broken china piece can be hung as a pendant. Clever!
