Part 1 of 2 Long hair does not suit me. So I am envious of those who can and do use hair clips and combs because they can make and wear hair jewelry! Debbie who writes the Squiggly Twigs Designs blog does a jewelry makeover with costume jewelry. Her tutorial shows you how to convert rings and earrings into hair jewelry. Via If you prefer softer materials, then check out the Flower Hair Clip tutorial by Barbolot on Craftster. Sara from the Craftsnob blog was inspired to make modern versions of 80's style ribbon barrettes. Different colors, sewing on crystals are a couple of ways to jazz up this inspired hair jewelry tutorial. Covering the metal barrettes will probably stop them from snagging hair too. Via Covering alligator style hair clips with ribbon as The Paperseed did makes them suitable for babies as well. Older wearers can have embellishments as well as it won't be a choking hazard for them. Get the tutorial here. Emma of Knit1Slip1 has a really easy braided beaded jewelry comb tutorial which was inspired by the actress Amanda Seyfried's hair jewelry in the movie Chloe. Wire work fans might prefer the Weddingbee's wire and bead hair comb tutorial. : Beadalon has a really sweet and whimsical tutorial by Margot Potter for hair sticks as well as hair combs. Rings and Things has this beaded dragonfly barrette tutorial if you are a bead worker rather than a wire one. We did an elasticated double hair comb design at a past workshop : Mollie Johanson of the Wild Olive blog has a very clever DIY Lightning Bugs (fireflies) hair jewelry tutorial using bobby pins. She uses glow-in-the-dark embroidery floss! I didn't even know there was such a thing! Via More Hair Jewelry tutorials :

Spice Up Earring Designs with Different Beads Posted: 27 May 2011 05:23 PM PDT Earrings are fun to make. Not only are there all kinds of styles (see my Earring Design Ideas hub), there are also different beads you can use to spice up the designs. Pat knew that and found two kinds of beads in Debbie's (Widget's Beads) collection for the two earrings she made at a workshop. Her first pair features black faceted beads with metallic coatings on the edges making it a simple but elegant design. She used bi-colored crackle beads for the second pair which I believe was going to be a gift. Crackle beads are glass beads which have been heat stressed. If you want to try making your own, check out the tutorial link below. Beader Designs # : 654-655 Related Articles :
