Good morning. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth raised eyebrows this week for reading a fake imprecatory Bible verse similar to one from Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 film “Pulp Fiction” during a Pentagon prayer service.
As Evangelicals continue to debate President Trump’s deleted social media post depicting him as a Christ-like figure, Franklin Graham issued a statement dismissing the backlash as “a lot to do about nothing.”
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, says on the CP op-ed page that Trump’s post serves as a reminder of why the biblical principle often described as the separation of church and state still matters, and when any political leader is portrayed — or allows himself to be portrayed — in explicitly messianic terms, a line has been crossed.
