Simple Woven Beaded Necklace Tutorial Posted: 18 Aug 2012 04:00 AM PDT I love to feature simple jewelry tutorials with great potential for going off into other creative directions. This woven bead collar tutorial from Ornamentea is just such a how-to. Firstly, you don't have to be a bead worker to use the same weaving technique. Nor do you need beading thread for this - just your beading wire. The designer recommends Softflex. You could also go with more flexible types of beading wire like 19-strand or 49-strand if what you normally use is the regular 7-strand variety. The more strands of steel inside the beading wire core, the more flexible it will be. Try using different colors and different types of beads - crystals will look terrific. If you are using smaller beads, then either extend the necklace length or use more ribbon. You don't have to use a ribbon for the back part of the necklace either. Just substitute with chains.
