Perler or Hama beads are fun for crafting. These beads are usually arranged on a pegboard before being ironed to bond them together. It's the sort of project ideally suited for children - with adult supervision since it involves a hot appliance. But for adults? Not so much.
I completely changed my mind when I saw
what Hannah of Story by Modcloth did. She first drew and colored in a fabulous design and then went on to make the focal with perler beads. Adding jump rings - she actually used eye pins - and the chain afterwards is easy.
She got the idea after stumbling upon the
amazing perler bead work of Shanghai-based designer Sabine Ducasse. It is a shoulder-collar-necklace-belt creation.
