Wood is a wonderful natural choice for jewelry. Colored pencils are largely made from wood and it's no wonder a number of artisans have seen the writing on the wall as far as making jewelry is concerned.
The latest find is the
embedded colored pencil in wood jewelry tutorial by Andrew Waser and Michele Lanan, the team behind
Xylocopa Designs. I think this is also a wonderful way to use up unwanted pencil stubs. But be sure to secure the short pieces so you can saw them safely.
The tutorial uses resin and will need some wood working skills with hand tools. The designers also recommend food safe protective finishes which don't use solvents or penetrants.
