Book Review : Beaded Wild Animals I have been asked if there were any beaded tutorials for sea horses and turtles. There is a beautiful sea horse bead embroidery tutorial by this Russian bead artist. But good 3D animal tutorials are harder to find. So I was delighted when I stumbled upon Suzanne McNeill's book : Beaded Wild Animals: Puffy Critters for Key Chains, Dangles, and Jewelry. Sometimes both sides of the animals are peyote beaded as one piece and then carefully folded together to get that puffy look as shown in the Zuni Bear pattern. Click on these preview pages to see larger ones. In other patterns, the beaded sections like the tail and feet of this Purple Phoenix are done separately and then assembled to the body. Different peyote stitches are also used such as circular peyote for the antennae of the butterfly. You could probably adapt some of these for brooches - perhaps with bead embroidery? | Back Cover | DisclosureI do receive a small fee for any products purchased through affiliate links.
