Thank you for praying with us this week

Dear Friend,

As we continue through the Week of Prayer for International Missions, I want to share a brief update—and a word of gratitude.

All week long, our missionaries have been reminding us of how important your prayers are. Many serve in places where the soil is hard, the work is slow, and the gospel has not yet taken root. Yet during this Week of Prayer, they tell us they are seeing opportunities and conversations that they have prayed about for a long time.

Your prayers are making a difference. They strengthen missionaries, encourage their families, and help open doors among people who have never heard the truth of the gospel.

Before a missionary learns a language, before a new church is planted, before someone hears the name of Jesus for the very first time— the work begins with prayer.

And this week, you have joined us in asking God to move among the nations. Thank you, Friend!

Thanks to your generosity, stories like Penelope's were made possible:

"After the Deaflympics in Tokyo, I spent a few extra days exploring the city with friends. While visiting a local shrine, we met a group of Deaf athletes who noticed our Olympic pins. Two of them, from Scandinavian countries, said they had hoped to receive one during the games.

I gave them each a pin and shared a QR code that links to sign language videos explaining the meaning behind the colors. They watched the videos and asked thoughtful questions, and as we talked, the gospel message resonated with them. In that quiet moment at a shrine in Japan, both chose to begin a relationship with Jesus.

It amazed me how something as simple as a pin could open the door to such a meaningful conversation and spark new faith, even in an unexpected place."

The Deaf team asked us to share their gratitude with you.

This is why your prayers matter. This is why we continue sending missionaries. And this is why we remain committed to reaching every nation, tribe, people, and language.

As the Week of Prayer continues, would you pray this with us?

"Lord, open a door today for someone who has never heard the name of Jesus to hear it clearly for the first time."

We trust that God hears these prayers and uses them to advance the gospel in places where Christ is not yet known.

Thank you for standing with us this week. Thank you for praying for missionaries, the lost, and for the spread of the gospel.

Together, through prayer, we are joining God in His mission among the nations.

In Christ,

Paul Chitwood
IMB President
