You walked home with it in your book bag the way a courier carries a diplomatic pouch, because that is what it was. You handed it to your mother. She put down the dish towel and sat at the kitchen table. She read every line. The grades, yes, but also the little handwritten comments in the box on the right. Talks too much in class.
