Bead and Save's $25 Gift Certificate Giveaway

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 04:00 AM PDT

They're B-A-A-C-K! The twins, otherwise known as Gail and Karen, are sponsoring another giveaway. This time for a $25 gift certificate towards beads and supplies from their shop, Bead and Save. This giveaway is limited to US and Canadian residents.

As some of you may remember from the post about their previous giveaway, these fellow Canadians, Gail and Karen are retired and have embarked onto their second careers as bead suppliers. Yes, they now get to play with beautiful beads full time! That must brighten up their days especially in winter because they just hate snow.  Montreal gets a lot more snow than Halifax

If you haven't yet visited their store, take a look. They carry a variety of beads and supplies but they do specialize in lamp work and Pandora-style beads where you can "build a bracelet".  Luscious colors and cool beads too. I particularly like the wooden strawberry beads which adorn a metal bookmark.

On their blog, Karen has showcased some of the bags she likes to make, decorated with beads, naturally! Don't these inspire you to use your beads in other ways besides jewelry making? They did for me.

Gemstone Jewelry Design Inspirations

Posted: 20 Mar 2011 04:07 PM PDT

Erica is a budding jewelry maker who simply adores gemstones.  She has a great eye for them. She brought  a strand of gorgeous tourmaline gemstones to a workshop. She then used the rondelle cut beads with copper beads and clasp from Debbie (Widget Beads) collection to great effect in the following necklace design. The copper really does compliment the rich multi-colored hues of tourmaline.

Erica also created this pretty pearl bracelet. The pale color of the pearls and silver findings were contrasted with maroon window beads.  Notice she chose a magnetic clasp - that's a good solution to the pesky problem of trying to put on and take off bracelets one-handed!
