Native American Inspired Jewelry by Miju

Posted: 29 Mar 2011 04:27 AM PDT

Miju on Etsy is the brain child of Mike Giles and Judy Lawrence who hail from Montreal, Canada. They specialize in making distinctive laser cut wood jewelry.

What caught my eye was their Manha collection which is Navajo inspired. Their Native American inspired jewelry has striking geometric Thunderbird and feather designs.  Texture effects are etched onto the pieces and the bold colors are hand painted.

The wooden pendants are all solid walnut which are leftover pieces from Mike'swood working shop, Furni. What a splendid way of using unwanted but precious bits of wood!

Bead and Save's $25 Gift Certificate Giveaway Winner!

Posted: 28 Mar 2011 04:49 PM PDT

Many of you really have an incurable form of bead addiction. You want more!  The most recent giveaway from Gail and Karen of Bead and Save has netted one lucky winner.

There are all sorts of luscious beads to choose from such as these new Pandora style beauties shown here.

Not only does Karen make bags, she also mentioned she has a new craft which she loves - decorative tassel making. Needless to say, it's yet another way of using up your lovely bead stash! She says they can be hung on a door, lamp, ceiling fan pulls, chair back, furniture knobs, finials, curtains and even bed posts.

She and Gail sent me pictures of some of their creations over the past week. Karen's first design is "Josephine" which also includes dangles of aqua crystals, tiny Swarovksi crystals and Tibetan style beads. Karen adds, "She is ready to fly - if the damn snow ever melts!!" Her inspiration for this design is the Ceramic Bird Tassel from MacKenzie-Childs.

Below are Gail's Mad Hatter and Karen's Sanctuary designs.

Okay. I won't keep you all in suspense any longer!  I consulted random.org for the winning entry number. The winner of the giveaway is Jan!  Congratulations and happy beading!
