Tierracast is a California based company which makes awesome jewelry findings. Their clasps, sliders, charms, rivets and so on in their distinctive designs are beautifully made. It wasn't long ago that they came out with their Celtic Collection. Now they are back with a brand new giveaway for a new one called the YOU
yo͞o,yə/ collection. The YOU collection was especially designed to include symbols and words which help express individuality. These include actual expressions, tree of life design, peace, yin and yang symbols as well as the Buddhist symbols - the lotus represents purity of body, speech and mind. The strange looking swirlish symbol is the om, a word of Hindu origin used in the chanting of mantras.
The use of letters in jewelry can either personalize a design or used to spell out words.
Tierracast recently sent me the above samples. The leather bracelets shown here are what I made. - some will be
in my store for
a limited time to raise money for cancer research.
I really like their sliders. The one on the left below is from the Celtic collection, the right, from the You collection. Adding sliders to either printed leather or braided leather bands is a good way to make the design pop. Needless to say, these designs are very, very fast to make. I use Super New Glue for the magnetic clasps.
Check out my past tutorial on how to easily measure and make leather bracelets like these.
Many of the findings are perfect for riveted designs. This plain blue leather band bracelet was decorated with a riveted tree of life focal and extra compression rivets. It is also very easy to do. The tutorial for this will be out later this week.
Did you know I am into yoga? Yup. The older we grow the greater the need to stretch and limber up those stiffening joints and muscles! If you do practice yoga, then you will recognise the Namaste greeting. Yoga is also a meditative practice so I added the Om symbol as a charm in this design using a reptile pattern stitched leather cord. A Namaste bracelet for a yoga instructor or practitioner is a truly personalized gift! Note I did bend the Namaste tag gently with my hands as I thought it looked better curved. The coiled wire ends were accomplished using 16G wire and the Coiling Gizmo.
Here are some of their featured designs over on Tierracast's site for even more ideas.
