How to Make Resin Cabochon Eyeballs for Evil Eye Jewelry Making and Other Crafts

I wrote about how to paint eyeballs on glass bubbles a while ago.  It was quite a surprise to see how many people thought Aniko`s tutorial was so useful. It`s not just about making evil eye jewelry but eyeballs are needed for all sorts of polymer clay creature art, plush toys and so on.  Check out Mandarin Ducky`s amazing polymer clay journals including some awesome creatures. If you know how to make them, then you can easily customize the eyes you need for the projects.

Fran Valera over on Little Windows recently came up with this awesome new tutorial on how to make resin cabochon eyeballs.  Her method allows greater details and depth especially if you are not particularly good at painting!

The most realistic are the embedded photographs.  She also demonstrates how to make less human looking eyeballs. She shares many resin tips which are applicable for other projects.  One thing is clear you have to be organized and patient as all of the eyes are made with the layering technique.

Evil eye talismans and jewelry have been around for a long time. They are worn to ward off bad luck. So you can certainly use the resin eyeballs  for unique evil eye jewelry (see links below).

Or adapt the techniques for other kinds of jewelry.  I particularly liked this example from the video tutorial.
