How to Make Loving Mother's Day Necklace Tutorials

Posted: 05 May 2012 04:00 AM PDT

With Mother's Day (US and Canada) just round the corner, jewelry making is no doubt one of the most popular crafts for creating that special present.  Here are some tutorials which add a personal touch and meaning behind the gift.

Fingerpring Pendant

Sarah Ortega's DIY fingerprint jewelry tutorial is based on polymer clay so it is easy to do. What makes her tutorial different the metallic paint she used giving the pendant a more luxuriant look.

I've covered bird's nest jewelry tutorials before but here is Sarah's version to remind you what a great design it is for a mother from her grown up chick!   Some people like using birthstones for the eggs.

What more would a mother or grandma want if she could have a child's art to wear?  Heather's easy shrinky dink pendant tutorial shows how sweetly her 4 year old son's picture of her and him walking along has been preserved in the final shrunk down circle.

A family photo pendant is also another option - see additional tutorial links below.  However, this mini-polaroid style pendant tutorial by Megan over at Polish the Stars is delightfully vintage in style.

I've posted the hilarious video of British comedienne Victoria Wood's monologue on the trials and tribulations of birthing babies and being a mother before. If you missed it, make sure you have some tissues handy before you start to watch it!
