Shannnam's Amazing Diorama Resin Rings Posted: 29 May 2012 04:00 AM PDT If you adore miniatures as much as I do, then you will be amazed by the Fragmented Chronicles collection by Shannnam. The designers behind the miniature worlds resin rings are Riyo Chan and Howard Kwong who are based in Hong Kong. The exquisite little dioramas tell stories. A woman sitting by her lonesome self in the park. What is she thinking about? A shepherd, his flock and his dog is yet another scene. And why is this bird diving at the man? All their rings are completely hand made. They created a prototype and made a silicon mold. The decorative elements are from German and Japanese made model train suppliers. These are N scale or around 1/160. Riyo told me that it took them some time to master the whole production process but they "are still seeking for better techniques to improve the quality." Both of them have day jobs in advertising but are passionate about handmade accessories and miniature models. They must be because each ring "takes around 2 days to build: from putting up the scene, injecting resin to the mold, waiting for it to dry, finishing and polishing." In order to get 100 rings ready for the international show, Tokyo Designers Week last November, they had to rope in a small army of friends to help with the final polishing! Earlier this year, they prepared for their Cupid and Psyche Valentine's Day limited edition collection which celebrates the the passage of love in life. Couples as well as parents and children are featured. Riyo and Howard are planning to expand their design concept for brooches. Beautiful vignettes in resin indeed! Each ring costs around 70-80 Euros. Via Before You Go: ______________________________ Original Post by THE BEADING GEM Jewelry Making Tips - Jewelry Business Tips | ||
Winner of Unkamen's $50 Gift Certificate Giveaway Posted: 28 May 2012 03:15 PM PDT If I ever needed to know that chain mail has become main stream in popularity, I only needed to look at the response from last week's giveaway by a most "unkamen" family! The lure of beautiful chain mail jewelry and the chance of winning precision rings even for other jewelry making projects was just too much. I numbered all the eligible entries and hopped over to random.org. The random number generator pulled out the number that was assigned to Cathy V of Humble Adornment. Congratulations! ______________________________ Original Post by THE BEADING GEM Jewelry Making Tips - Jewelry Business Tips |
