THE BEADING GEM'S JOURNAL

Grand River Bead Society Exhibiton and Bead Show!

One of the first things I did when I moved to Ontario last year was to join the Grand River Bead Society, a nonprofit organization which came together back in 2001 to share ideas and encourage others to become addicted interested in beads and jewelry making.  This active group of keen beaders are a lot of fun to be with.  We meet once a month in Guelph and there are often mini-workshops.  So if you live close enough we'd love to meet you!

Some of our work is now on display in the Guelph Civic Museum.  The exhibition will run for 5 months.  Here is a picture of Roxann during setup day.

Marilyn Gardiner and I managed to take pictures of our submissions before the start of the exhibition.  My wire work Floral Glamor was created especially for this exhibition.  The Tagua Twist was designed for an Ecuadorian Hands post a while back.

There are also planned presentations and perhaps demonstrations at the museum which have yet to be announced.

The GRBS will also be sponsoring its annual Bead Show and Sale soon. See that necklace?  You may recognize my  Disco Ball inspired wire work necklace, again from a previous post!  It won a GRBS competition for the brochure picture.

There are free demonstrations on both days. I will be demonstrating the use of the bailing pliers on October 5.  Hope you can come along and say hello!
