How to Create Earring Cards Using Punches

All kinds of punches will help make earring cards a lot easier.  Very useful for the time pressed artisan!  Using business cards as earring cards is a brilliant idea because the card with earrings can just be taken off a display board and popped into a suitable bag for a customer. I usually use just a pin tack to puncture holes for the hooks or studs. Not always even and kind of slow!  This nifty little punch converts business cards into earring cards and will not only speed things up but the holes will be consistently placed.

The other style of punch (below) also cuts out a flap which makes hooking on leverback earrings possible. I rather like this idea as leverbacks cannot be easily hung on earring cards.

Not into using your business cards?  Then search for all kinds of tag punches to use with the above hole punches.  Tag die cuttiers such as those from Sizzix are also worth checking out. I rather like this gorgeous die from Fiskars which not only cuts but embosses. I reckon it can be used with my Sizzix Big Shot.  You can color the raised portions afterwards but I think it looks elegant without any coloring.

I also like Dawno's lace edge punched earring card tutorial.  Hers definitely covers leverbacks too!

Do check on the tag and punch sizes carefully if you are investing in these tools for  presents and/or your business.
