Wire and bead animal art need not be confined to jewelry making. Scaled up, the work can be used in home decor as sun catchers or as wall art. One Russian wire artist Yulia Chasovskikh who goes by july17_hm,
has made a number of gorgeous nature inspired wire and bead art. Shown here are 3 of my favorites.
Her process involves drawing the design to use as a template for the wire frame. Then it is a matter of using thinner wire to wire wrap strands of beads to the frame. I would use at least 18 G for the frame and 24-26 G for the beads especially if the work is going to be on the large size.
The designer also fills in space with wire work. Check out
her instructions for the cow here. The
copper fish tutorial can be found here. You are only limited by your imagination! Plus this is fabulous way of using up odd beads. The designer also used sea glass and even soda can tabs.
The tutorials are in Russian so you will need to translate the pages.
