How to Make a Metal Leaf Tutorial | Tool Use

Leaf elements are wonderful for jewelry designs.  Want to make your own metal leaf in any size you want? James Miller over on Ganoskin shows how to make a metal leaf from sheet metal. His tutorial is largely a pictorial. He shares pictures of the different kinds of tools and how he used them.

The designer probably used a jewelry saw to cut out the leaf shape. Metal shears are easy to use too. In either case, the edges have to be cleaned up with sanding.

He has a large ingot like anvil - I wonder where he got it from?   Notice that he uses different tools to planish (flatten) the leaf shape.  Basically, this how-to is all about careful shaping.
