Twisted Wire Tree Sculpture Tutorial with Plaster of Paris

Twisted wire tree sculptures are so neat to see and make. They make great little decorative items. The trick is always what to do with the base (see last tutorial below). You need a foundation to stabilize the tree and keep it upright. This tutorial by Tonya Gritsyuk uses plaster of plaster of paris (gypsum) which is then hand painted to add color and texture.

The designer used the plaster to cover up the twisted wire trunk and main branches.  I think it the twisted wire is best left exposed except for the base. The foundation shape can be something other than that of a bowl too.
