Jaclyn Mayer's Awesome Paracord Jewelry

Posted: 20 Mar 2012 04:00 AM PDT

Who says paracord jewelry is only for men?  Take a look at the awesome work of Jaclyn Mayer and you'll have to agree that paracord can be made to look not just feminine but utterly fashionable.

Californian born Jaclyn Mayer has studied design in prestigious schools including getting an MA from the London College of Fashion.

Her jewelry line began back in 2004 and was selected as the designer to watch in Lucky Magazine. She has gone on from there. Her designs have been featured in numerous magazines.

They are stocked by Neiman Marcus as well as several boutiques in the US and abroad.  Some are available on her website.

Ashby Necklace
Franklin Cuff

It's not just the use of paracord and climbing rope but her uncanny combination with jersey strips and various chains which make her work a standout. The pieces range from single strands to complex interlocked designs. Shown here are my favorites from her Fall/Winter 2011 collection where neutral shades shine.

Sausalito Necklace

Chevening Necklace

Crosby Bracelets

Jaclyn is so creative that she is constantly coming up with new highly fashionable collections each year.  Here is a quick peek at her 2012 collection that she let me share with you.  The tribal look adds elegance with a touch of color to any outfit.  These can be worn alone or in combination with other pieces.

Winner of Beaded Lily's 25 Euro Gift Certificate Giveaway

Posted: 19 Mar 2012 03:09 PM PDT

It turns out that not only are Tim and Lily the sort of artisans you want to learn from, they are also unofficial tourist promoters for Italy!  A number of entrants in last week's Beaded Lily Giveaway were envious of the their life in Italy. And two readers are probably going to call by the shop later this year as they vacation there. Cool!

Well, one lucky winner is going to be able to import a little bit of Tuscany in the form of either lamp work beads or wire lace pretty soon!

I counted and numbered all the eligible entries and hopped over to random.org.  The random number generator then picked the number assigned to  Kristi of Curiosities by K. Congratulations!
