People, especially women, are often judged purely on their looks and their age. Western society, unlike others, does not value older people. That's the reason why the cosmetic industry rakes in billions of dollars each year. People are so willing to spend a lot of money repeatedly on beauty treatments and botox treatments which do reduce wrinkles but don't last. Or risk surgery for more permanent solutions.
So it is refreshing to see Noa Zilberman's special 4 piece gold plated brass collection which celebrates wrinkles instead. She came up with the idea for her first year's master of art project at Israel's Bezalel Academy. The collection is not really for sale.
Watch her video of her jewlery here. There is so much societal pressure on women to look young and beautiful. Something actor Dustin Hoffman only realized when he was filming the 1982 movie Tootsie where his character had to dress in drag. His emotional response to this unfairness is shown
in this recent interview.
At the end of the movie, his character says to the female lead played by Jessica Lange,
"I was a better man with you as a woman, than I ever was with a woman as a man." Via Before You Go: ______________________________
