The air in the shop always smelled like a mix of ozone from the equipment and the sharp, chemical scent of fresh shrink wrap. It was a heavy smell that stayed in your clothes. If you worked a six hour shift, you went home smelling like a warehouse. To a nineteen year old in 1978, that was the smell of success.

Every Tuesday was New Release Day. The truck from the distributor would pull up at eight in the morning and drop off heavy cardboard boxes sealed with reinforced tape.
