The
Beadaholique video tutorial approaches the picot edge differently as it deals with the foundation and the backing of the beaded cabochon. This is not just a decorative edge but also hides the edges of the foundation and backing.
The most common number used is 3. But you can also try 5 bead picots. I've also see 4 bead picot with the middle two beads in a contrast color. The result is a slightly offset picot.
