THE BEADING GEM'S JOURNAL

More Wire Wrapped Heart Jewelry Tutorials

Did you know the earliest known example of the heart being used as a symbol for romantic love dates back to the 13th century?  An illustration of a young man offering his heart to his sweetheart appeared in a manuscript.  Ever since then, the heart became popular as a metaphor.  So here is a yet another collection of bead and wire heart jewelry tutorials for Valentine's Day or any time when an expression of love is needed!

The above wire wrapped heart tutorial is by Hungarian artisan, Erika Schneider of Cleo Design. It's a versatile design which allows for unique wire flourishes and different kinds of beads wired into the heart center.  The tutorial is in Hungarian.  So please use some sort of translator!

Marty Blu shared a sweet wire wrapped heart tutorial using a large heart bead. I like how Cupid's arrow was integrated into the design!

Not too great with wire?  An easy heart focal can be made from just simple seed bead dangles and minimal wire wrapping..  Just check out Adriane's fringe heart seed bead necklace tutorial over on her blog, The Happy Hour Projects, and see for yourself.

I also liked the idea of a hoop earring variation in the shape of a heart.  The tutorial by university student Gloria on College Fashion is a free form one. She also writes the Gloriously Chic blog.  Here are some suggestions to make the task easier for consistent earrings.  You could draw a template on paper as a guide.  Or use a cookie cutter for the shape. Also remember to debur the wire end that goes through the ear holes! (See How to Debur Earwires)

Want a little more color to the wire heart earrings?  Then check out Sharon Bateman's tutorial over on Wig Jig.  It combines wire work with a bit of beadweaving (brick stitch).

The flat wire bracelet tutorial by Veva over on My White Idea is so much fun with its vertical hearts!  Veva is a bilingual Spanish blogger so you'll have no problem reading her directions.  Veva says she bought the flat aluminum wire in a local store but she says it is available on eBay.  The flat wire has huge design potential!
