Easy Knotted Headpin Tutorial using Thin Gauge Wire

Tired of using either headpins of eyepins?  I don't blame you. But the good news is you can jazz them up with different wire techniques.  I particularly love Joceylyn's easy knotted headpin tutorial which you can make in a few minutes.

The key to this design is the use of thin gauge wire - 26G or 28G. I generally like my headpins made with 22G- 24G wire but as the designer said, 24G will be tricky.

This is what she said when she replied to someone asking about the thin wire used,"Many pearls have very tiny holes, and while they can be widened with a reamer, I find it saves some time to use 26 gauge wire for headpins while still being study enough. The "knot" at the end has no chance of coming undone, and if you wrap it at the top it's really quite sturdy."

Makes sense to reserve this for smallish pearl designs.  Reaming pearls is not a fun job - you have to get those fine pearl reamers (see link below).  It is laborious to do it without a pearl reamer as I found the hard way here.
