Book Review and Giveaway | Lazee Daizee Guide to Viking Knit  More Recent Articles Book Review and Giveaway | Lazee Daizee Guide to Viking Knit I bought the Lazee Daizee tool and reviewed it a long while ago.  I have never gone back to the old method of wooden dowel and handmade wire clover ever since. This tool makes the process go so much easier plus saves on wire!. The detachable "clover" head means you can make the knit any length you wish. The hexagonal body helps align the loops along the edges. I started with the smaller 1/4 inch tool which works well for daintier designs.   I have since bought the newer and larger 1/2 inch tool which has many more holes in the "clover" head thus increasing the design possibilities. Stephanie Eddy the co-inventor of the tools recently sent me her Lazee Daizee Guide to Viking Knit book for review. This 47 page part booklet- part book covers the basics and goes beyond what you can see from the instructions which comes with the tools. (Click on the images to see them larger.) The diagrams are colorful and big! So there is no need to squint when trying to see the wire passes for the double and triple looping techniques. The author also shows how to properly use the conical end of the tool to make your own coiled wire end caps and finish a bracelet.   The bracelet shown in the contents page above is a good example of beautiful designs made possible with this tool. The tutorial for this is in the book. The second half of the book - the "beyond the basics" part  - is where it really shines. It covers how to use multiple wires so that you can form columns of color or even blend different colored wires for a new look. Yes, ombre is possible! I particularly love the three wire "spiral" single loop stitch.  This one as well as the peacock and cathedral stitch offer more possibilities to those who can already do the single, double and triple loop ones. Adding beads and going free form shows how you can really make viking knit jewelry designs different. The anchor holes help starting and changing wires but I personally don't use them.  But they are useful when adding new wires and some may prefer this assistance. There are also 3 complete project tutorials in the book including this decorative bail one : This book is as it says it is, a reference guide to Viking Knit using the Lazee Daizee tools.
