Tired of the same old style of ear wires? Then you have to try elvish ear wires. They are easy to make and customize. Check out
this tutorial by Russian designer, Veronika Rakintseva. She added dangles as well as wire wrapped seed beads to the front of the ear wires.
Note that she doesn't explain how to make the ear wires. Please
see my tutorial on how to make elvish ear wires. I had two examples there - one where I added only dangles and the other I strung on the beads to the front of the ear wires. In the latter case, you have to string on the beads
before making the V bend.
Veronika used gemstones for her tutorial. As you can see, you can make them in any color scheme you like. I couldn't decide which pair I liked better. So here are her garnet ones :
Also remember to debur the wire ends!!!
Check out my past post on how to do this. By the way, a needle files, sanding pad or varying grades of sandpaper from a local hardware store lasts far longer than
this kind of wire rounder. Having said that, this inexpensive tool is easy to use as all you have to do is place the cup on the end of the wire and twirl it.
One last, but important tip. Use rubber backs or plastic earnuts (
see this example ) at the back stem for security. I have lost elvish earrings before. They have the tendency to pop out when I took off my coat.
The tutorial is in Russian. So either use Google Translate or follow my favorite method.
For computer users, use the Chrome browser, right click and select translate to English.
For mobile device users, use the Chrome app (free) and agree to the translation when asked.
