B'Sue Boutiques $25 Gift Certificate Giveaway

Posted: 14 Nov 2011 04:00 AM PST

Remember Brenda Sue from B' Sue Boutiques? Well, she's back to sponsor this new $25 gift certificate giveaway!

Brenda Sue's store sells a range of components but her big specialty is brass stampings.  The previous giveaway also featured Gilder's Paste (see my past post on how to use Gilder's Paste to colorize metal jewelry).  The resulting jewelry will surely please vintage and collage style fans.

She is extremely knowledgeable on vintage jewelry having bought and sold many pieces in her long career.

Shown above is a set she made several years ago from "stampings, a re-purposed locket (which you really can't see as it's encrusted with collage) vintage beads and jewels.   There is a piece of old Italian mosaic in it as well.   A nice marriage of just a teensy bit of re-purposed pieces, the total effect may be a little fussy, but the earrings would be mod-chick style from the sixties and go okay with Five and Dime. If I were making them NOW,  I would pair them with a different brooch."

She also explained, "The type of brooch with the dangling locket is definitely Five and Dime Style; dangling locket brooches were a big hit for companies like Coro in the 40's and 50's."

Brenda Sue possesses a tremendous can-do attitude. She herself constantly experiments with new ways to use different components and materials.  What shines through in her delightful Youtube presentations (more than 50  to date) is her bubbly personality and her tell-it-as-it-is approach.

Mistakes are not edited out - like the time when the blade of her craft knife fell off and she cracked as she tried to replace it, "Is there going to be blood?" Was there?  You'll have to watch one of the video's below to find out!

She also encourages us not to be too hard on ourselves especially when first starting out.  In one video she promoted a new motto "embrace imperfection" and also added another tongue-in-cheek one, "fix the dumbness"!  I certainly have practiced both along my own jewelry making journey.

Shown below are a few of her most recent videos featuring tips and new approaches.
