Make Faux Dichroic Glass Pendants with Nail Polish!

Posted: 24 Nov 2011 04:00 AM PST

Do you have nail polishes you bought because the colors were so pretty but they aren't your favorites any more? Well, instead of throwing them away, make beautiful nail polish glass pendants!

This brilliant tutorial  is the brainchild of Susan over at the Sweeter Lemon blog. It's clever for several reasons.

It's not just about being frugal and environmentally friendly in its reuse of an unwanted product. The nail polish is actually painted on the back of the glass cabochons.  The resulting designs give the illusion of dichroic glass without the expense.

If you use bezels then the nail polish layers are also well protected as they are sandwiched between the glass cabochons and the metal.  But Susan covers the simple bail alternative too.

To get an even more fun effect, she used OPI's crackle nail polish for her second pendant as shown below.  Her tutorial has all the tips and tricks to make the projects work so check it out!

Now off to find my old nail polishes!
