More Unconventional Ways with Bead Caps in Jewelry Design

Posted: 21 Apr 2012 04:00 AM PDT

I'm always trying to come up with unconventional uses for some of my findings. Bead caps are one of the most fun to experiment with. So if your bead caps have been languishing in your stashk, try these ideas to spark your creativity!

Charlene Sevier on Etsy created the above bead cap chandelier earrings tutorial for the Strung Out blog.  You can make them as big or small as you like using different metal finishes.  It's a totally different approach than the one I wrote about before (see below).
Divya over at Jewels of Sayuri tipped me off about her rakhi bracelet tutorial. A rakhi is a kind of  bracelet for brothers to wear during the Hindu festival of Raksha Bandhan where siblings celebrate their bonds to each other. Their sisters receive money or gifts.

The bead cap Divya used is in the middle of the yo-yo. She hammered it flat. I too hammer bead caps flat to create new filigrees or floral focals.
